Chelsea signs Rudiger from Roma

Rudiger only spent two seasons in Serie A with the Giallorossi, the first of which was a loan spell before he made the move from Stuttgart permanent in 2016.

The Germany international, who had been under contract at Stadio Olimpico until 2020, joins the Premier League champions on a five-year deal after impressing at the 2017 Confederations Cup.
"It's a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this," the 24-year-old defender told his new club's official website.

"I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I'm very proud to officially become a Chelsea player."

Conte needed reinforcements at the back after allowing Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry and Nathan Ake to leave this year – the latter two at the end of the campaign.
