Aston Villa sign Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull

The 29-year-old reunites with his former boss Steve Bruce on a three-year deal at Villa Park. The Egyptian international played under Bruce at both Hull and Sunderland and will join up with the Villa squad in Germany for the Cup of Traditions tournament. I am delighted to be here at Aston Villa,” said the versatile winger.

Aston Villa is a great club and I am thrilled to join – it’s one of the very biggest clubs in England and its history and tradition is there for all to see. It’s a great time to join too as we look for promotion to the Premier League. I will give absolutely everything to help us achieve that goal. I know, first hand, what it takes to win promotion and I want that feeling again.

Elmohamady created 25 chances in the Premier League last season – more than any other Hull player from his right-wing and right-wing back roles. Defensively, Elmodhamady won 52% of his tackles and 63% of his headed duels while chalking up a whopping 105 clearances and 48 interceptions last term.

Under Bruce in the Championship during Hull’s 2015/16 promotion season, the winger created 75 chances and provided six assists as Hull went up via the play-offs.
