Matic made 40 appearances in all competitions last season but he will see his role reduce this coming season after the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco. Matic, formerly of Benfica is expected to play deepest in a midfield three with Paul Pogba and Spaniard Ander Herrera.
