Iheanacho to complete Leicester move

Iheanacho made just six starts for the Citizens last season but in his short spell with Manchester City he managed 21 goals and will be leaving the Etihad as the most lethal striker in premier league history as regards his goals per minute ratio.

It is an honour to work with him. It's not easy for him as he didn't get a lot of chances (in the team), but his behaviour was good. Kelechi's a young player. He needs to play at that age and that's why he, and the club decided, it was best for him (to leave)."

Iheanacho is expected to complete his deal with Leicester City after the club agreed a deal for him in principle with Manchester City. Kelechi Iheanacho will have a medical at Leicester today as he closes in on a £25 million move from Manchester City. Iheanacho is set to finally complete his protracted move in the next 48 hours after the deal was held up due to a row over image rights with his former agents.

Leicester have already agreed a fee and terms with City for the Nigeria international but have had to be patient during negotiations. But now the striker is poised to officially become a Leicester player in a huge coup for the former champions and new manager Craig Shakespeare.

It is understood that Leicester have secured Iheanacho's signature ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Monaco. Manchester City have insisted on a buy-back option for the academy product. Iheanacho, 20, could make his Leicester debut in Friday's friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach at the King Power Stadium though, at this stage, it is thought unlikely due to a number of issues still to be resolved. They are not threatening the deal, however, and are purely linked to his disagreement with his previous agents. Shakespeare said earlier this week: "I'm hoping he will be available for the game at Arsenal, but I am like every other manager at the moment. I think we all find it frustrating but it is the current market.
