It was the Neymar connection that first brought Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona's attention, and it will be Liverpool's decision to see the deal over the line, if the 25-year-old is to complete his move to Spain.


Liverpool's Brazilian already had an excellent relationship with Suarez on and off the field on Merseyside and it's reigniting that partnership that has Barcelona convinced they should pay whatever it takes to bring him to the Nou Camp. Another reason why Barcelona are convinced Coutinho should be their first signing is that he can play in two positions where they have major doubts going into the new season. He can fill the berth vacated by Neymar or he can step into Andres Iniesta's shoes in midfield.
It's good that Barcelona fans realise he is not the new Neymar, just a good player who has proved his worth at Liverpool and will be a good signing for the FCB.
