The England international recently reunited with his boyhood club after leaving them for Old Trafford in 2004 as an 18-year-old.
Rooney has been adamant that he is still as hungry as ever and sees the move as an opportunity to have a fresh start – and if early indications are anything to go by, he is serious about that.
Making his first new appearance for the club in Thursday’s preseason friendly against Gor Mahia in Tanzania, the 31-year-old scored an absolute screamer of a goal.
Collecting the ball 40 yards out, Rooney took one touch with his left foot, moved the ball a few yards with his right and fired home an unstoppable shot:
