Besiktas signs Pepe from real Madrid

Former Real Madrid defender Pepe has completed a free transfer to Turkish champions Besiktas. Pepe is believed to have signed a three-year deal with Besiktas, which is a huge improvement from the one-year offer that Real Madrid had proposed while he was still at the club.

The 34-year-old made 334 appearances in a Real Madrid career that spanned just a few months shy of a decade, enjoying huge success and winning a multitude of trophies before his contract was allowed to expire.

Paris Saint-Germain were heavily rumoured to be Pepe’s destination after leaving the European Champions, but the back-to-back league champions of Turkey have acquired his signature in a move where he will link up with international teammate Ricardo Quaresma. Pepe featured in the Confederations Cup with Portugal last month, making four appearances and scoring against Mexico in the third-place play-off.
