Spain stars ramp up preparations for World Cup qualifier against Israel

The Spain squad ramped up their preparations for the crucial World Cup qualifier with Israel — and Gerard Pique and Co were in high spirits on Wednesday.
Barcelona defender Pique shared a joke with his international team-mates while his defensive partner Sergio Ramos cut a more serious figure during the session.
Pedro, the Chelsea winger, was another Spain player who appeared in confident mood as they prepare for their upcoming fixture. Julen Lopetegui included few surprises in his latest squad with experienced trio Pique, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba part of the team.
Spain take on Israel at home in a World Cup qualifier at El Molinon stadium in Gijon before travelling to France to play a friendly against Les Blues at the Stade de France. Spain are top of their World Cup Qualifying Group G on goal difference ahead of Italy - after three wins and one draw from their matches so far.
If they qualify for Russia 2018 they will be hoping for a far better showing than their last performance - when they failed to make it out of the group stages despite beginning Brazil 2014 as World Cup holders.
Meanwhile Diego Costa feels he is finally settled in the Spain set-up after initially struggling to adapt to international football.
'It's different playing with Spain than with Chelsea,' he told Cadena Ser.
'At Chelsea I'm the focal point. When I arrived to the national team I touched few balls, I struggled to adapt. [But] every time [I come back] I feel better and calmer.
'I've left behind many things to be with the national team. The only thing that bothers me is to see my commitment questioned.'
