Everton miraculous come back at Godison Park against Watford

Everton beat Watford FC 3-2 in a thrilling comeback at Goodison Park earlier today, after falling two goals behind early in the second half. Goals from Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Leighton Baines sealed the win though there was a heart-stopping moment late in the game after the visitors missed a 100th minute penalty.

The dramatic win - their first since beating Bournemouth at the end of September - sees the Blues jump to 15th in the table and secures caretaker boss David Unsworth his first victory.

Midway through the first-half Leighton Baines was presented with a gilt-edged chance to put Everton ahead but the Blues left-back opted to side-foot his effort inside the box and Heurelho Gomes palmed the shot away.

Watford began to take control of the game soon after a wasted a fine chance to go ahead when Richarlison, free on goal after rounding Jordan Pickford, could only hit the side netting. Yet less than a minute into the second-half and the Brazilian opened the scoring when Andre Gray broke free and clipped a pass to him at the back post and he scored from a tight angle. Everton should've levelled on 53 minutes but Gylfi Sigurdsson's shot was saved by Heurelho Gomes and Watford made them pay by doubling their lead just past the hour mark.

From Jose Holebas' corner, Christian Kabaselse powered home a header past Pickford. But four minutes later, the Blues pulled one back when Niasse raced onto Ademola Lookman's through-ball, nicked the ball past Watford's sub keeper Orestis Karnezis and ended up bundling the ball into the empty with his shoulder after Holebas had dragged him down. It wasn't long before Everton drew level.

Baines' corner to the back post was headed home by substitute Calvert-Lewin with 16 minutes remaining. Aaron Lennon came off the bench with five minutes of normal and won a penalty after being brought down by Holebas. Baines converted to put them in front but Watford won a penalty of their own deep into time added on after Pickford fouled Richarlison but Cleverley sent it wide.
