Adnan Januzaj closing in on Manchester United exit with £9.8m move to Real Sociedad

Adnan Januzaj is expected to complete a £9.8 million move to Real Sociedad on Wednesday as the Belgium winger bids to revive his flagging career in Spain.
United had high hopes for Januzaj after an impressive breakthrough campaign four seasons ago but he has endured a dramatic fall from grace since then and is now finally set to leave Old Trafford.
Sociedad are due to announce Januzaj’s signing on Wednesday although it is unclear if United have inserted a buy-back clause in the deal, even if they did insist on one during negotiations.
Januzaj impressed during David Moyes’s only season in charge at Old Trafford and was tipped for a big future but he subsequently found his attitude and application being routinely questioned by club and country. Former Belgium coach Marc Wilmots and Under-21 boss Enzo Schifo both complained about Januzaj while Louis van Gaal made no secret of his frustrations with the winger’s attitude.
“It is a pity he did not show the desire and attitude you need to progress at his age,” the Tuchel told Sportbild, the German newspaper. “My feeling was that he never was completely with us, that a part of him always stayed in Manchester and he compared everything here with United. We were not able to help him to shake that off. They are coming to us to ask for a second chance.”

Januzaj spent last season on loan at Sunderland under Moyes but he struggled to make an impact as the Wearside club were relegated and Jose Mourinho, the United manager, made clear he had no future at Old Trafford.
